They're not my family. I got that off Google Images. But they could be my family. Someday. Except if you destroy my livelihood like you're about to. Just look at little Geppetto's face. Or Yesenia's (she just turned eight). That's the exuberant joy of a child who's spent their first summer in Hawaii. At our summer home. Joyce and I worked our whole lives for that place. Cut coupons. Bought the off-brand soups and cereals. Worked day and night in the crayon factory so we could turn a jarful of pennies on the fridge into a little something for ourselves. And it was all worth it for those smiles. Those smiles that will fade into a memory if you press that button. Like tears in rain.
